Avatar gun revealed?
8 January 2009 8:29 AM, PST
We all know that James Cameron's a fan of massive guns - anyone who's seen Terminator 2 or Aliens will attest to that. And, fittingly, Jc's most hyped flick Avatar looks like it'll have the biggest gun of them all, if this image leak is to be believed. Head to the gallery to your right to see a larger version. We can't guarantee the shot's real, but MarketSaw does have an excellent Avatar insider, so we imagine these are the massive weapons we'll eventually see blowing stuff up in the Avatar trailers that'll be released one day.... .

6 Bollywood Remakes That Totally Miss The Point
8 January 2009 4:36 AM, PST
India is an amazing place to spark the imaginations of filmmakers – see Danny Boyle's stunning Slumdog Millionaire this Friday for proof. But sometimes, Indian helmers can get a bit lazy. We've complied six of the worst Bollywood remakes. They all miss the point of the original property, but at least a couple of them are so bad they're hilarious. Fight Club (2006) The Bollywood Fight Club takes the anarchic, subversive original, and makes a Jean Claude Van Damme style fight flick. Elvis Movies American Elvis is a lithe... .

Exclusive Watchmen Images
8 January 2009 3:02 AM, PST
Hankering for more pictures from this year’s (hopefully) most ambitious comic book movie? Look no further… just click to the right. The images show off Silk Spectre and Nite Owl II getting intimate, The Comedian putting his feet up and, er, Zack Snyder chatting about glasses. Despite the looming legal battle (see our Watchmen hub for the latest information) we’re still optimistic about seeing the movie before the end of the year. If that’s not enough, check out the latest issue of Total Film (151) for an... .

Leonardo DiCaprio may Beat The Reaper
8 January 2009 1:52 AM, PST
Add yet another possible acting job to Leonardo DiCaprio’s slate – New Regency wants him to star in novel adaptation Beat The Reaper. The company has nabbed the rights to Josh Brazell’s tome, which sees a New York casualty doc find his old life crashing in on his new one when a mobster recognises him as a former hit man. Brazell should at least have the medical stuff down – he is (or was) a trainee doctor when he sold the rights to the book. We’re not sure if he was ever also a hit man, though we doubt... .

Twilght’s Taylor Lautner will return
8 January 2009 1:33 AM, PST
Twilight sequel director Chris Weitz says that Tyler Lautner will return to his role as Jacob Black for the new film. Despite rumours swirling to the contrary (he’s not tall enough/tough enough to play a man who goes through… changes*), Variety reports that Lautner is signed on for New Moon, which starts shooting soon and will hit cinemas before Christmas. According to Weitz, Lautner, who has been down the gym trying to bulk up to keep the role, is “emotionally right” to play Jacob. Pattinson back also And... .

Sam Rockwell up for Iron Man 2
7 January 2009 4:44 PM, PST
Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke are negotiating for roles in Iron Man 2. With the script still a closely guarded secret, the early details about their characters seem to shift according to which of the big trade mags are talking about it. If he locks in a deal, Rockwell may end up as one of the two big villains in the sequel - Justin Hammer, a corporate rival for Tony Stark who may or may not get his own power suit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rourke is up for the role of a Russian arms merchant who becomes super-villain... .

New Street Fighter: Legend Of Chun Li trailer
7 January 2009 4:20 AM, PST
The English trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li has arrived on the internet. You can watch it below. There’s plenty of action for the fan base, plus a number of nods to the series. We’re a little worried every action sequence will use one massive side-on long shot, mimicing the games. No sign of much characterisation or plot, but hopefully that’s just the way the movie is being marketed. Take a look below, and then check out our character comparisions to the original game characters.

Legend Of Chun Li Character Comparisons
7 January 2009 4:14 AM, PST
Maybe it’s because some of totalfilm.com used to write about games for money, but we’re far more interested in the new Street Fighter movie than we have any right to be. Since the English trailer of The Legend Of Chun Li hit the internet, we’ve unleashed our inner Street Fighter fanboys and obsessively picked it apart. For the record we think it looks better than the 1994 live-action flick, but has some way to go before trumping the Japanese animated movie. The characters are a mixed bag, though. Of course... .

New villain for Superman: Man Of Steel
7 January 2009 4:12 AM, PST
According to insider gossip, Warner Brothers are not only hearing pitches from writers for the next Superman flick, they've already made a key decision. Lex Luthor will not be the main baddie - WB execs want to pluck a super-cool supervillain from Supes' rogues gallery. Which is exciting news. As much as we liked Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns, we'd much rather see a super-powered scrap between Supes and Doomsday (who you can see in the gallery to your right), Darkseid or a young General Zod. Or, you know, all three. That would... .

The 17 Worst Movie Posters Of 2009
7 January 2009 3:29 AM, PST
Funny People It’s a film about acerbic stand-up comics, so how does the Apatow camp decide to advertise it? With this weird, slightly saccharine shot that’d make us cringe if we saw it on someone’s Facebook, let alone at our local bus stop. Props for making Seth Rogen look even uglier than usual, though. The Unborn Okay, at first glance this might look like the best poster ever made – it does contain an arse in pants, after all. But that’s the problem. We might glance up a bit to see that... .

Bridges is on board to play Flynn again, while Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett recently won the two female lead roles. Who We'd Cast In Speilberg's Tintin Movie
6 January 2009 3:59 AM, PST
So, Pegg and Frost have been cast as the identical Thompson Twins in Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's Tintin. But they don't look anything alike, which is confusing, right? It doesn't matter. Tintin will be a CGI 3D mo-cap affair, which means that anyone can play anyone. Using that logic, here's who we'd cast in the rest of the roles. Professor Cuthbert Calculus Who is he? Absent-minded half-deaf genius scientist, who invents elaborate machines to aid Tintin in his adventures. Essentially the Q to Tintin's James Bond, only a bit...
